Grandfather had been walking through the tall meadow grass when he heard a faint jingle. Reaching into his pocket, he realized he had dropped the silver key to his workshop.
He asked Steve and Kynthos to help him search the overgrown field.
Steve tried to logically calculate exactly where the key must have fallen. When he couldn't find it immediately, his temper flared. He crossed his arms, red with frustration, and wanted to quit.
Kynthos, on the other hand, was naturally good at searching. He dove into the grass happily, but quickly lost focus, distracted by a colorful beetle, a butterfly, and a shiny rock, completely forgetting about the key.
Grandfather knelt down beside them in the meadow.
"Steve, anger clouds the mind. Frustration will not reveal what is lost,"
he explained gently, holding the boy's shoulder.
"And Kynthos, energy without focus is just wandering. A scattered mind finds many things, but not the thing it seeks."
The brothers understood.
Steve took a deep breath to calm his temper, and used his logic to guide them in a deliberate grid pattern. Kynthos promised to ignore the bugs, focusing his sharp eyes intently on the ground to find silver metal.
By working together—Steve keeping them organized and Kynthos using his focused searching—they quickly spotted the glimmer.
Kynthos excitedly held up the silver key, and Steve smiled proudly beside him.
