2011-09-09 - Letter 9 9 2011

9/9/2011 Last week was interesting. We lost loca Jackie and Hermana Zunig, she never returned like she promised. Internet was out for 5 days and the phone are still out. So we have to borrow from el fundo perpetuo office phones and internet next door. My English is suffering I guess. Sometimes I don’t know if I am speaking English or Spanish. We still struggle with the language because they speak so fast and use words we don’t know. But we get a good idea now what they are saying. I had to teach the workshop last week because the teacher didn’t show up. Last time I was more prepared than this time. There seems to be so many things we need to learn that sometimes I just cannot do a good job. I prayed earnestly for help to get through the class and I got though it and the students said they learn a lot. The work is moving forward and we try to ask the nonmembers if they would like to learn about the church? Most say yes. This morning we took a long hike up the mountain to see the giant Coke cola sign. It’s like hiking up to the BYU sign. I have never done that but this sign is hugh. You cannot get to the Letters because the area is fenced off. But going to the top and looking down at the city reminded me of going with angel to top of that mountain and looking down at the city in Italy. It was prettie tough walk but not as tough as Havasupai. Mom like, okay, let’s go back down. She took the hike like she was a young woman in her 20’s. Just don’t know if I can keep up with that girl any more. I was dead tired. Tonight we are invited to some ones home for dinner. Our Spanish teacher’s mom. They used to be in our ward but moved pretty far away. She bought some piñatas and asked us to up to fill them with candy. So when they have the celebrations of independence day parties on the 15th of September. Some of the families with kids will enjoy it better with the piñatas. She will donate them to poor families. We I got to run. Take care and love you all. Lv alwys dad
