2011-05-11 - Letter From Honduras

5/11/2011 Life goes on no matter how you treat it. Sometimes we feel like throwing in the towel and just give up. I always preached never to give up and it has haunted me my whole life. Now I say if you want to give up go ahead but only a day, Moop around complain and just give It all you got but when you get up the next day. Get back on track and hopefully you haven’t lost to many friends in the process. Making life easier is what we all dream about but if you put in the effort now than latter is will be a lot easier is a whole lot of garbage. Life can be hard all the time but when you are in the service of helping others life seem to be a lot easier. I can tell you how sometimes I just do not have the energy to go on and I say a little prayer and ask the Good Lord to bless me now with energy to perform my task and after I had finished a three hour work shop in Spanish I go back the Lord and thank him for the help he has provided me. It seems we are not getting any younger and in our minds we think we can do so much more and I think I can but when I sit down, I cannot seem to get back up as fast as I used too. I still get up but it is a lot harder for me. I feel a genuine responsibility for the people here in Honduras to give them my best effort even if I feel it is not doing them any good. Or I might think that I can do so much more. The Lord has blessed me and my family so much and I will be forever grateful all of you because you in itself is a blessing for me. Some of you have kids and you know exactly what I am talking about. I challenge each of you, even Tima to be better parents that we were. Life’s circle of love should increase in each generation. The other day a university student the son of some one that a head of the unverity was killed. They said because he ran a red light and so they shot the car and killed him accidently. There were not bullet holes in the car and his friend that was in the car too was killed also but some time later they said. Well a long story 8 policemen were responsible for the crime, they have found four that just went to work like nothing happened and the other four took off and are assumed missing. Because of this they have suspended over 175 officers for conduct unbecoming an officer. The point I wanted to make is that the corruption goes all the way to the top. But they are not the ones that will be prosecuted. Because it was someone rich, that his parents hired others to investigate their sons murder something was done. A couple of days after this incident there were four police killed for some unknown reason. You can kind of see what goes on here between the lines of the communication but no one really wants to make it better. They say It is okay, that is bad and I will just live my life and hope that things do not happen and if they do I will deal with it. If it is my friends or family that is effective then I will try to do something but then I have to worry about myself of my other family that are alive. So they make you think you cannot do anything and you most likely will accept the way of life here. I will not accept it. Yesterday I was waiting in the drive through line for pizza; the person in front of me pulled around and was waiting to get in line. He was very old and his car looked old too. I figured I would just wait here with my blinker on so that I didn’t block the way and people would know I was waiting in line at the drive through. When the cars moved up I motion to the person that was waiting before to pull in. He motion for me to go first. I decided to go when a car just took the place I was going and almost caused an accident then the person behind him pulled up. I was very upset and just pulled into the parking lot and got out of my car and told the person why they were so rude to pull in front of this older gentlemen? They knew what they did was wrong because they said we are sorry but never made any attempt to change it and just went on with their order. The guy behind them rolled down his window to find out what I was saying and I told him you are as rude as them for pulling in front of this older man. He didn’t back up just pull in and ordered. There is no courtesy and wait your turn in her in Honduras. Survival is you take advantage of someone else and everyone accepts it unless you have gun. I know I am a missionary and I shouldn’t of done that because I wear a badge that represents the Church and I just kind of lost it I guess. The whole pizza place was looking out the window to find out what was going on. They were very friendly to me when I ordered. They say you cannot change people you can only change yourself. I pray for patience and the ability to do what the \lord wants me to do. Lv you always Dad
