2015-01-11 - Can God Actually Love Me

I have been thinking about this phrase and wondered if it could be true. Can God actually love me?

I have always felt like an out sider when it came to being a member of this church.

That what I thought was true didn't really matter because I was lost with all the scriptures people would quote to me to explain the truth.

I tried to be someone else to try to fit in and it was all a mistake.

I was very confused about religion until I heard the story about Joseph Smith. How he himself went alone to pray to find the truth.

If fact I was a missionary on the island of Guam and my companion was very upset with me because I would not bear my testimony about the Gospel.

I was not as versed as he was in the scriptures and didn't have all the teachers he must have had.

I just wanted to be myself and know the truth. So I went down the street and knelt down next to a cliff overlooking the ocean.

First I asked myself what was true in my life and came up with a decision that the Mormon Church was true because it taught families can be together forever.

So I prayed and said I feel in my heart the Mormon Church is true and I will not get up until I know.

I waited a long time and I felt some bad come over me at first and wanted to get up and run back to my apartment but I stayed.

Then I felt a something that over whelmed me to the point that I didn't want to open my eyes but I did.

It seems I knelt 2 inches in front of a tree and I heard a voice that said. You have always known it was true. Just look at what God created. The trees, the ocean, the sky.

I got up and ran back to my apartment and just as I laid my head down on my pillow my companion said its time to get up.

I have changed and since that day I don't have to worry any more about scriptures or if I fit in because I know the truth.
