12/23/2011 I really don’t know where to begin. We honestly try to do good here but this place is so hard for the people that live here. We had a good turnout for our party for the volunteers that have help us since we have been here. Mom made pistachio salad, the pretzel salad, Pizza, chocolates and white cake. 30 or more people came. Our jefe came from Tegucigalpa. We were wrapping things up when Hermana Martinez, our new missionary just recently called to serve in the center got a phone call. She started to cry and then it was an uncontrolling crying. We ask her what’s wrong and she said her husband was killed. He owns a security guard business and was taking money out of the bank to pay his workers. As they left the bank three robbers pulled their guns and ask President Martinez for the money. One they said was a minor. He said no and they shot him and his brother-in-law was shot in the leg. He just got here from Guatemala the day before. They took over a 100,000 limperas which is $5,000 dollars. It was the pay roll for his security business. We just took then out to lunch just last Tuesday to one of their favorite places. We got to know him better and realized he was an amazing man. He sat there writing down the things I said. He said that a lot of his employees would not show up for work and would steal his guns that he gave them for work. I suggested for him to withhold a fraction of their money until they had paid for each gun he issued to them. When they left you can return the money. I had a similar problem with my employees and they would not take care of their tools . I had them buy their own tools. Hermana Martinez told us another story about him. She had bought him six white shirts. When she look into his closet there were all gone. She asked him what he did with them. He said the members cannot afford to buy one so I loan them mine. She said we don’t have the money and Ya know they don’t even come any way. That was the kind of person he was. That all he wanted to do in life was to serve the lord. He could not wait to serve another mission and when he heard us ask for missionaries to serve in the center he ask his wife if she wanted to do so. Then the next day she was serving in the center. I cannot truly understand when the lord takes a person like this that is so desperately needed here. He left a 22 year wife and a two year old child. I know he got his wish and he is serving his mission up there. We went to the funeral they called it but it was the viewing that night. We kind of broke the mission rules because his body didn’t show up until 11 or 12 pm but we felt we needed to be there for him and his wife. I cannot express the sadness I have had these past few days. We both kind of felt something like this was going to happen. Elder Perez is a mission that just went home that served in our ward. Well President Martinez served his mission in his ward in Guatemala. Elder Perez served in his home ward before he came to serve with us. He is going to be heart broken when we tell him. There is not a lot of people like him. I will miss him and we will miss Hermana Martinez because she will have to start a new life. You just never know when you will die and when you stand before God and if we all prepare now then we need not worry like President Martinez. We worry about you kids and how we can help you. We pray for you every day to bring you closure to the Lord. He is the only person that can heal all pain and make life better for you and me. I am in sorrow for what happen but we must continue the work of the Lord where ever we may be. Here or at home if so be the place the lord wants us to be. Being away from you kids has been the hardest thing for us. We felt this is where the Lord wants us to be right now. Can you call each other on Christmas just so say hi. We are a family even through we are far away. The thing is we can handle the problems here and try our best to do things the Lord wants us to do. Problems that are in the family has been the toughest to deal with. WE pray with all our hearts that we will all become closer to God from this time forth. That whatever has happen will be forgotten and the New Year will bring us together even closer if we will find it in our hearts to forgive. I say this from the bottom of my heart that if offended any one of you that I am sorry and forgive me. I love you always and will always love you no matter what you do or say. I pray for the bitterness to leave our family at this time of joy and the birth of the Savoir. It is a great time to dedicate your selves to be better and to tell ourselves I will be closer to my heavenly father. Do things to make that happen. I love you all. Lv dad.
