I really didnt understand how to be reverent until I was older. Reverence is the way we act toward ourselves and to others in a quite proper way. I heard a talk once about 4 boys that went to the temple to do baptisms for the dead. The two boys in the front roll were quiet and respectable and the ones in the back were talking and laughing to each other. They were both asked how they felt about going to the temple. The two in the front roll said they felt the spirit and it was a great experience but the two in the back roll said it was boring. I thought how two different people can come away with two totaling different feelings. The reason is that some were reverent and some were not. What does it take to be reverent? First of all we need to be quite and attentive to the things that we are around. When do we remove our shoes? When we are on holy ground such as partaking of the sacrament or being reverent then we will be able to commune with god, Just as Mosses did in mount Sinai. This is only a figure of speak we dont really remove our shoes but we do remove who we are for a moment and become quite and still. So that the still small voice of the holy ghost can talk to us. A daughter brought treats to sacrament meeting to pacify her three little boys. As the sacred emblems of bread were passed down our row, Jake, then three, whispered in her ear: “Tell them we don’t need that bread. We brought our own treats.” To a three-year-old, all he saw was pieces of bread, and he thought he had something better. Being reverent at sacrament meeting by being quiet and remembering the Savior will allow us to feel the spirit. . Those covenants and the blessing of always having the Spirit of the Lord with you are renewed each time you worthily partake of the sacrament. It will strengthen you in the face of temptation. Being here on a mission has really been tough at times not being able to say the things that I would like to say. Most of our time is in the form of being reverent by quiet and lessen to every word you guys speak to us. Not by choice but by the fact that we don’t really know how to speak Spanish right now. My testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel has grown to the point of exhaustion. I Go home at night and just got to bed. Two and a half years after the Church was organized, the Lord warned Joseph Smith of wars and famines and plagues that would come because of wickedness. Then He told us how to be safe in such a world: “Stand ye in holy places, and be not moved, until the day of the Lord come” (D&C 87:8). Standing in holy places is all about being in good company, whether you are alone or with others. It’s being where the Holy Ghost is our companion—alone or in a crowd. When we determine within ourselves that we will control our thoughts and our actions and be the best we can possibly be, the best of life will come to us. A person was on the plane the other day and sitting next to him was a father and son.. He thought to himself what a un reverent little boy running around, kicking my seat and talking aloud. The father is not even doing anything to correct that child. What kind of a father that allows your kid to run wild like that. He went up to use the rest room because he had enough of sitting there with this kid kicking his seat. He overheard one of the passengers say, How sad it was that this kid is going to grow without a mom. That she heard the mom had died suddenly and the father was taking her body to get buried. My perspective had changed and I went back to my seat and ask if I could help. The father said, I don’t know what I am going to do now. Some times we are to busy with our own lives to stop and be reverent life However you want to put it, Being on holy ground or standing in holy places can be accomplished by being reverent.. I have a strong testimony y of the Savoir and the gospel of Jesus Christ, . That it is true. The Savoir lives and can live with in us by be reverent
