1977 - Letter To Cindy From Guam
[Page 1] Hafa adai. I hope everything is okay. I haven't written in a long time. Do ya want to know what really I'm doing? Well I'm teaching an awful lot, but we're teaching some Faggs. It seems that I'm not spiritual enough to convert them to repentance. But I pray more than I have ever done in my life, and that's all that really bugs me, is how to go about and convert them.
About Buckshot — has he left? Buckshot didn't write me before he split. I heard he had his farewell — what did it sound like? What did he say?
Are ya going to move to Washington state also? Hope not. When are ya going to the "Y"?
We went to McDonalds a couple of nights ago and we saw 3 waheinies (Chicks) and a black pug over their food. So me and my companion walked over and asked them what faith they were from. They [said something that struck him]. This guy said that we have the only true church on the earth. They were from the Church of Christ. They invited us to a Bible class. They said we could have a couple of minutes to explain our beliefs. The next evening we did decide to go.
[Page 2] As the minister was praying, every body was saying, "Yes Sir, Yes Lord," meaning the minister would say a couple of lines and they would say Yes Sir. Very crude. Anyway he started preaching about false messengers, directing his talk toward ripping us apart. After he sat down I asked him if we could take a few moments to tell them why we came here. He said no.
He tore us to shreds and denied us the opportunity to share our peace. That's what irks me about the whole situation. He started asking us questions, then wouldn't give us a chance to explain fully, and he would put words in our mouth. I wish I could of punch that little tramp. That religion is cruel and makes people suffer.
Well I'm so glad I have the gospel, and I not led astray in some thing like that. I truly [know the gospel is true — remainder obscured by decorative graphic].
Love ya, Steve
[Postscript with arrow: Spider Love ya]
PSSSSS I have a 1,000 letters — would ya like to sort them for me and put them in a book?
